STATE OF EMERGENCY IS DECLARED ON THE OCEAN VIKING, IMMEDIATE DISEMBARKATION IS REQUIRED

The SOS Méditerranée campaigns resumed the day after the lockdown was lifted, after three months at quay, in Marseille, for the Ocean Vicking. Within a few days, several rescue operations were carried out, and 181 people are now on board. Their state of psychological fragility is alarming and requires urgent care. The Mediterranean, cradle of all beauty, has been transformed into a graveyard by the drowning of tens of thousands of refugees over the years. Those who attempt the crossing must be rescued, welcomed and surrounded. The International Forum for Social and Solidarity Economy supports the actions of the SOS Méditerranée teams and calls for solidarity to be no longer an exception. The health crisis that we are experiencing has shown that the best in everyone can be

found, this principle must become a rule.

To help migrants who risk their lives is to affirm our humanity; to support all social economy initiatives that allow the development of local activities and the integration of those seeking a better future is to affirm our solidarity. Our fervent wishes of welcome accompany the Ocean Vicking, which is currently stationed in the port of Empedocle, Sicily.
